Simple and Not Too Sweet Acai Bowl (Paleo + Vegan)

I love me a good Acai bowl! They are filling and often filled with good for you ingredients.

BUT a lot of the ones you can get at smoothie shops are PACKED with sugar. And while fruit is delicious, fructose has a very similar effect on your blood sugar that regular sugar does, so a bowl made with fruit and then topped with more fruit will still give you that blood sugar spike and crash!

Banana Chocolate Breakfast Mookies (Grain, Gluten, Dairy + Refined Sugar Free)

Let me start this off by saying this Mookie is not what I had set out for this recipe to be.

And the first batch came out GREEN… and not because I intended it that way.

Okay, I think we should backtrack for a second here.

Originally, I wanted to make muffin tops because aside from the ones your jeans give you when you’ve eaten a bit too much, muffin tops are downright delicious and the best part of any muffin. I think we can all agree that you eat a muffin for the top. Crispy edges, fluffy center, contains the most topping, it’s the best.

Which, naturally, is why I tried to make them.

Only the first go round, I used sunflower seed butter. Sounds like it would be delicious, right? Right! Except that when sunflower seeds mix with baking soda it releases chlorophyll and your baked goods turn an exceptionally bright

Roasted Tumeric Carrot Fries!

I’ve expressed this before but I can’t say it enough:

To me, food is as a vehicle to consume condiments. And one of my favorite ways to do that?

The Fry.

I love me a fry. Thick cut steak fries, hand cut, wedges, waffle, curly, sweet potato- I’ve rarely met a fry I don’t like. But for me, traditional fries live in the “20” category of the whole 80/20 thing.

But! I still have the urge to dip dip dip. So carrot fries have been my new go to as of late.

On the Fence: Beef Jerky (Epic Honest Harvest Wholesome Trail Mix)

Hello!

This has been a very exciting week. The Boy and I celebrated two years together (crazy!), I found out that Backstreet Boys will be not only be the show “Undateable” next week- but they will also be on the same lot WHERE I WORK.  (Poll: Do we think it’s okay if I “coincidentally” wear my Backstreet Boys studded denim jacket to work that day?! “Oh, this old thing?”)

Oh AND I tried a new snack… Beef Jerky.

So much excitement, so little time.

Here’s the truth about Beef Jerky. When I think about Beef Jerky I think about growing up seeing Slim Jim commercials and those tubular things of beef at the gas station that looked (in my opinion), beyond nasty. 8th grade me thought why have that as a snack when you can have Gushers? or Teddy Grahams (chocolate ones, obviously). Or those yogurts that came with a thing of sprinkles to pour into it! Sprinkles in a

HELP! I have a new snack addiction and I can’t. stop. eating.

It all started last week when I was in San Diego and after a less than satisfying dinner we sauntered over to Jimbo’s… Naturally – a market I could spend hours (and lots of dollars) in- to pick up something for what I like to endearingly call “Dessert Party!” we settled on chocolate peanut butter coconut milk ice cream from one of my favorite brands Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss but that’s not what this post is about.

No, this is all about the little box I saw right before the check out line (those grocery people know what they are doing!) and had to add into my cart.  It was a box of Puffins. But not just ANY box of Puffins, no this was a limited edition box of PUMPKIN Puffins! And for those of you who have never had yourself a Puffin and are wondering what all my huffin and puffin is about, let me
