Almond Butter Acai Cauliflower Smoothie (Paleo, Dairy Free, Whole 30)

After 5 days in Kauai, it feels so good to be back home and back in my kitchen!

Don’t get me wrong, I loved every waking and sleeping second of Kauai – it’s such a beautiful place with the nicest people, stunning scenery, picture perfect weather and amazing fresh food. I will put together a whole post on our favorite food spots from our trip soon!

But after 5 days of a LOT of treats (all worth every single bite!) and eating every meal out, it’s nice to be back whipping up my own food.

I took my all time favorite barre class this morning and it’s been super humid and hot here in LA so cooking was not going to happen.  Also, we are VERY low on groceries so I just wanted to use up what we have in the freezer/pantry.

EATING MY WAY THROUGH THE EAST COAST: ADVENTURES IN “HEALTHY” EATING

The last week I’ve been on vacation on the East Coast and it’s been wonderful! Seeing friends, seeing family, spending time with The Boy and… what everyone really cares about on vacation, a whole lot of great food.

For most of the vacationing population out there and especially those who choose to spend their time off in New York City & Down the Shore in Jersey, vacation food means soft pretzels, ice cream cones and salt water taffy. But for those of us who are of the Gluten Free, Try-to-be-Dairy-Free,  Almond Milk Latte loving variety, vacation food takes on a whole new meaning. We are constantly searching for the hidden little gem that offers up indulgences that still say “Enjoy! Relax! Calories Shmalories! You’re on vacation!” But that also says “You won’t get a crazy break out that will make you look like you’re in 9th grade all over again.”  Otherwise known as foods that taste great but don’t make you feel like crap.

Oh My God I’m Back Again… with a Smoothie and More! (and yes I just used a Backstreet Boys song as my title)

Food, TV

Hello there!

It’s been a loooong while since I’ve written and while a lot has happened– the blog got a makeover (do you like it?!), The Boy put a ring on it (yay!), I entered a new decade (um, yay?) and I’ve been cooking up a storm (posts coming soon!) but like a true friend who you haven’t seen for a while, it’s nice to just pick things right back up like no time as passed.

So let’s pick things right back up, shall we? I wanted to let you all know that I will be on Fox Detroit tomorrow morning on their morning show, The Nine (in the 9 o’clock hour) sharing some of my favorite new kitchen gadget finds. These are all items that make cooking/baking/DIY’ing in the kitchen a whole lot faster and easier… and makes the excuse that it’s too difficult, too expensive and too time consuming to eat healthier a whole lot harder.

I will
