Over the past week or so I’ve been on a makeup makeover kick. My husband forced me to clean our overly cluttered bathroom and devised a terrible, yet genius process where he put everything that was all over the counter into a big bag. He told me to pull from the bag everything I use over the course of a week and leave it on the counter when I was done. Then at the end of the week, we would see what was left in the bag — which would force me to face the facts that I either don’t use it and should toss it or that I use it only once in a while and should store it somewhere (anywhere!) other than our bathroom counter.
Happy holidays, everyone!
I’m currently home in Michigan where It. Is. Freezing. Everyone keeps telling me it’s not that bad and OK, fiiiine, I admittedly have become such a baby since moving to California — but going outside is a real struggle!! I forgot how much of a process it is: the jackets, the boots, the scarves, the gloves, and yet you’re still shivering. Then when you get inside, within 10 seconds you’re sweating profusely from so many layers! I’ve been home for two days and have left the house twice. Embarrassing, I know. It’s been hot chocolate, old photos and good movies on repeat!
I do love that the cold gives me an excuse to be on the lazy side since I don’t get to do that very often. OK, on the very lazy side. Sometimes there’s nothing that feels better than wearing pajamas (with cartoon milk and cookies on them) for an entire day. #noshameinmygame
But the other
The holidays are almost here which means the gift giving bonanza is almost upon us!
But what do you get a fitness/wellness loving gal (or guy)? Surely not a basket of sugary Christmas cookies or chemical filled beauty products! If you’re shopping for a fitness fanatic, makeup/beauty product obsessed, chocoholic (refined sugar free of course!) or kitchen/cooking goddess, here are some my favorite go-to gifts for 2016 that will help your bestie/sister/boss/significant other stay healthy and happy this holiday season!
Is there anything better than the start of pumpkin season? For some reason as soon as August hits, everyone is jonesing for some of the orange stuff.
The annual return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte might as well be a national holiday- there are currently countless articles on the interwebs speculating the release date of the OG Starbucks beverage, and Dunkin Donuts just announced their PSL will return August 29th! Pumpkin recipes (bars! pies! muffins! scones! soups!) are already flooding your Instagram feed and while every year you TRY to fight off the pumpkin frenzy because, well it’s still SUMMER and like 85 degrees outside, you can’t help but feel the need for some pumpkin.
But since I can’t get my hands on a Pumpkin Spice Latte just yet, I kicked off pumpkin season in a whole new way. Besides, I’m trying to save that beloved sugary PSL (and the calories that come with it) for the first brisk day
In case you are looking for more info on the products I featured this morning on Fox 2 Detroit, I will post a full review later but here are the links!
Have you heard of Rubber Face Masks? Because I just tried one and I have never had so much fun putting on a face mask before! They have apparently been a staple in the Korean beauty world for years and a fan-favorite with celebs and spas alike but now, anyone at home with $5 bucks and 10 minutes can get in on the action!
These aren’t just any sheet mask. When you put the paste on, it turns into a rubbery mask that conforms to your face which allows mineral-rich nutrients to be absorbed and when you peel it off you remove dead skin cells and impurities from the skin!
So while prepping for my segment tomorrow morning on Fox 2 Detroit on great activities for a Girls Night In, I tried one of these out, you know for research and such. Research that helps me get TV ready skin? Um, yes please and thank you.
What a week!
Monday kicked off the start of The 21 Day Sugar Detox. The Boy and I decided to do this after a few too many weeks of sweets and treats and by Monday at 4pm we were g-complaining (that would be complaining to each other over g-chat) about what a mistake this was.
Friday, Friday– it is SO good to see you!
Now I feel like an idiot.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was boasting on this very blog that I found the answer to perfect skin. A long time sufferer of acne (and chocolate addiction but that really has nothing to do with this… or does it?)
